Funny Link

I saw this link on BooMama’s site and have been listening to it, laughing outloud the whole time.  It helps if you realize she is calling her husband “Left Brain”.  It’s one of the funniest things I have heard on the internet in a long time.  Mom – you and Bethany will especially appreciate this!!!

[Oh, I clicked on her album and you can listen to all the tracks.  This one is sort of the background to the one above.  Perfectly describes Brad and my father!]

Matthew’s End Of School Program

I’m Still A Little Shaky

We have had an eventful weekend.  And it’s only Friday.  I’m not sure we can stand much more excitement.

I say weekend, but it started yesterday which technically isn’t part of the weekend.  Nevertheless, yesterday Matthew had his end of school program.  Then we had Kindergarten Orientation.  Then Brad took Peter & Matthew to our niece’s High School graduation.  And got home at 10:30pm.  Then the boys were up at 6:20am today.  Then Peter went to school.  Then I ran to Target to shop for Peter’s birthday.  Then I came home and this happened:

Goose Egg

Samuel's Goose Egg

I’m not sure pictures can do it justice.  It’s huge.  It’s nasty.  And scared.the.living.daylights.out.of.us.

We may tend to panic more easily than most people, but when I looked down at Samuel’s forehead and saw the lump swelling, I yelled for Brad.  He saw it and immediately said “We have to take him to the emergency room.  He’s bleeding under there!”

I blame all the “House” reruns we’ve been watching.

Anyway, we grabbed the boys and started heading for Acute Kids, which was my mistake.  I thought that’s where the Pediatrician told me to take them.  Thankfully, Brad questioned me enough times that I finally called and sure enough, they were not even open.  So I called our pediatrician.  They sent us to their Frisco office where the nurse looked at him immediately and said it was just a goose egg and nothing to worry about.  Then the doctor saw us and checked him out thoroughly.  So he’s fine, but I’m still coming down off my adrenaline high.

I may have left my wits somewhere on the Tollroad when we were going 85 miles an hour.

And as if that wasn’t bad enough, we stopped at Sonic to get lunch on the way home and I got the worst cherry limeade I have ever ordered.  But I didn’t taste it in time to send it back, so I have been adding various things to it since we got home in an attempt to salvage it.  I don’t think it’s going to happen.

Well, we’re clearly recovering if my biggest concern is my drink.  Here’s to the remainder of our weekend being dull and boring.  Cheers!

[Edited to add: Here's a video of Samuel mimicking something he heard on a video game.  In case you can't understand him, he's saying "I've got a boo boo, oh yeah":]

[Edited AGAIN to add this video of Matthew's take on the quote from above.  Just saw it for the first time and had to put it on here.]

Matthew!

Here’s the video I promised in the last post:

[Edited to add: I keep forgetting to post this.  Our church makes a "God At Work" video that is played on the screens at the end of the service each week.  In this one:http://vimeo.com/4708342 you can see Peter twice.  Half-way through the video, when they show Parabalooza, look on the front row of the green shirts.  You can't miss him.]

WOOHOO!!!!

I am so happy!  My silly web browser has been giving me headaches for days, not letting me browse secure websites or even post to my blog!  And now – LOOK – it’s working again!!!  Amazing what a corrupt file will do to a program…

Anyhoo, I took the cutest movie of Matthew tonight, and I want to post it as soon as I can get it uploaded.  But meanwhile, I also have some cute pics of the boys I’ve been wanting to upload.  Here you go!

Stoplight!

Stoplight!

This was totally unintentional.  Brad mentioned it as we walked into church – hey, they look like a stoplight!  And since Samuel’s been smitten with “Greeny”, “Yellowy”, and “Reddy” as he calls the lights on the road, it seemed appropriate to stop and photograph them.  What are the odds – we even managed to put Matthew in the middle color!

Here’s my almost-Kindergartner on their Sports Day at school.  I love his happy face.  It’s not just for the camera, either.  He truly is a happy little boy.

Number Game

Number Game

They sent home an entire CD full of pics from Matthew’s preschool, and I loved this one.  It’s a number game.  The numbers 1-20 are on magnets and they have to put them in order.  It’s a timed game and most of the year, Matthew was unbeatable!  He loves numbers and without knowing anything about our family (at all), his teacher told me she thinks Matthew will be an engineer.  She also predicted he will be in the G/T program – and according to her, she’s been doing this a long time and is rarely wrong.  Did I already write that in a previous post?  Maybe I’m just tired and am having that weird dejavou that happens when you’re tired.  Did I say that already?  (Just kidding.  It may seem like I’m losing my mind but it’s really my twisted attempt at humor.)

I’m uploading the Matthew video but it usually takes a while so I’ll post that tomorrow.

Over and out.

I Knew Someday It Would Come To This

It’s official.  I’ve lost my mind.  I blame the month of May.

This morning, I told the boys they would need to empty the dishwasher at some point in the day.  This afternoon, I threatened reminded them again.  They complied, then skipped happily outside to play.

It was quiet for about half an hour.  I got suspicious so I first went to see if they finished the dishwasher.

Yep, it was empty.  Only someone forgot to run it last night.  So what they emptied were the dirty dishes.

I quickly surmised that I was going to have to wash all the silverware and possibly all the rest of the dishes, as well.

It was 6pm when I decided this, and dinner time was half an hour ago.  Time for some take-out.  I grabbed my purse and keys and headed outside, only to discover why the boys have been so quiet.

Yesterday, I opened our sandbox, which was half full of water and half full of sand, so that the water would evaporate.

Then I forgot.

Yeah.  Not my smartest move.

Looks like we’ll be eating hot dogs on paper plates with plastic forks.  And whatever else I can find that will make tonight’s disaster into something resembling a picnic.

Did I mention Brad is traveling tonight?  You probably guessed.  Just one night.  He’ll be home tomorrow.  But for now, I’m on my own.

[Edited to add that just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, Samuel decided to throw Cheese-It crumbs like confetti during dinner.  Hence the following picture - although it doesn't do justice to the mess.  Or my level of despair.]

Sky Ranch, Pt. 1

Here are some pictures and video of Peter and Brad’s camp out this weekend.  They went to Sky Ranch, just North of Tyler, and have only been home a few hours.  This was their last Adventure Guides (YMCA) camp out of the year.  Peter and Matthew will both get to be in it next year, then after 3rd grade, Peter will be too old.  Anyway, there’s lots of pictures and stories to tell, but I’ll start with Peter doing the Zip Line.

Here are some pictures to tell the story:

Here’s the best part – Peter doing the zip line!  To hear Brad tell the story, Peter just walked up to the edge and stepped off.  Just before Peter’s turn, a 3rd grader freaked out and wouldn’t step off, so Brad was so proud of Peter.  From Peter’s perspective, he had no idea how high he was until it was already too late!  Enjoy!

After Matthew’s party, we picked up Peter, then later that evening we all went to see the second grade perform Pirates! It was really cute and Peter spoke his line like a true pirate.  I don’t know if I got it on digital video – took a lot that night – but when I sort through it all, I’ll see if perhaps the video turned out better than the photography.

Finally – The Parabalooza Post!

If you just read that and are asking “What in the world is Parabalooza???” then you are probably on the wrong blog site.  For surely everyone acquainted with our family has heard of Peter’s big performance from Sunday night – possibly even heard Matthew recite Peter’s verse!

The good news is that I have lots of pictures to post.

The bad news is that the video is in analog (tape) format and I’m lightyears away from being able to translate that to a digital video that I can post here on the blog.

So, without further adieu, here are the pics.

"God said, There are no other Gods but me, a righteous God and Savior..."

So use your imagination – but rest assured, it was much cuter than that.  Maybe someday I’ll get the video translated into digital format.

But I wouldn’t hold your breath.
